NEW SEOUL INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, SOUTH KOREA, SEOUL, 1995
Commission for New Seoul International Airport

TWO IN ONE

What the idea of the city needs now, is a new beginning. As various points in Asia such beginnings seem possible, but the New Seoul Airport city offers the first ideal condition. It has a compelling reason: the new Seoul Airport will be a crucial global hub; it also has the means: virgin territory that combines natural beauty, ecological interest, infrastructural potential and that is, free to become a demonstration of how man can reinvent the urban condition at the brink of the 21st. century.

The creation of a major new international airport is a massive infrastructural effort: access roads, connections to the center city, vast land clearings. On analysis, only a part of such an effort is actually fully exploited by the airport itself, another segment is always redundant - if only because the entire infrastructure is dimensioned for "peaks”.
